Living After Cancer

Treatment can cure stomach cancer, however, the thing that is often feared is if the cancer recurs.      So, several aspects need to be emphasized related to life after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Which are as follows:

  1. An appointment after cancer treatment is important to ensure that your cancer problem does not worsen or recur if it is completely cured. Be sure to be present and let them know if there are any symptoms or problems that arise after the treatment is over.
  2. Ask your doctor about a care plan for cancer patients. These can revolve around lifestyle, follow -up treatments and lab tests that you will need to do later.
  3. Eating can be difficult after you have stomach cancer surgery. It follows that the organs involved are important organs in the digestive system. A common complaint is related to a condition called dumping syndrome. Patients experience nausea, sweating and diarrhea immediately after eating. This is due to food entering directly into the intestines as the stomach organs are small (have been dissected) or none (have been removed).
  4. Make sure you keep your medical and health insurance records.
  5. Do not take supplements unless approved by a doctor. There are no studies that show that supplements can lower the risk of stomach cancer for those who have not experienced it. If you want to take supplements after cancer treatment, ask your doctor first.
  6. If your cancer comes back, get treatment right away.
