When Should You See A Doctor

It is difficult for us to determine when is the right time to see a doctor.

However, if you are experiencing the listed symptoms and are concerned about the risk of cancer, a doctor’s examination can give you a clearer picture.

Stomach cancer if diagnosed at an early stage can be treated and it has a high cure rate.

To achieve that goal, you need to provide complete medical information and history to help the doctor make a diagnosis.

Here are some tips you can do before seeing a doctor:

  1. Write down symptoms and related information such as when they started, changes (if worse or better) and how often they occur.
  2. Tell your doctor if you have a family history of cancer.
  3. Bring a friend or family member along when seeing a doctor. They can ask questions and remember information you may have forgotten.
  4. If you do not understand, ask for an explanation from the doctor.
  5. You can ask the doctor to write or sketch for you if it can help you to understand.

The physical examination that the doctor will do depends on the symptoms and risk factors identified during the taking of the medical history.

Temperature, blood pressure and pulse rate are standard measurements to be taken along with an abdominal examination.

If there are signs that you may have stomach cancer, laboratory tests will be done to confirm the diagnosis.
