The Need for a Strategic, System-wide Approach to Obesity Care
Obesity is a serious chronic, relapsing disease and one of
the leading causes of death and disability worldwide.
It is estimated that 1 in 5 adults will be living with
obesity worldwide by 2025, and that more than 1 billion
people will be affected by 2030. There are a range of
evidence-based management modalities available for
people living with obesity – but several obstacles persist
that limit their widespread implementation.
